[Pokemon] Catching Farfetch'd

In my recent travel to Taiwan, I was hoping that a Farfetch'd ( a region exclusive Pokemon which is only found in northeast Asia) would appear in the place where I was going as I don't have time to focus on playing Pokemon on a vacation though once in a while I am checking the game.

I was in Taichung when this bird suddenly appears in the nearby status. The sad part, I was boarding a bus and no way I can stop it and there was no nearby station, so I give it a pass. The same thing happen the next day and I was really disappointed but still, I keep my hopes up high.

The bird in the nearby

Then I went to Taipei to continue my journey but this time, I seldom check the game at this point. I open the game again when I was on my way to Elephant Mountain and luckily nearby sightings of Farfetch'd. I immediately check where it was and then bingo it was just on my route. I hurriedly went to it and catch it. I was happy that time and it was mission accomplished.

Here is a video of me catching it:

[Pokemon] First trainer level cap in the Cebu [Philippines]

After the game was released in the Philippines almost 4 months ago, trainers around the country had been busy catching and leveling up. Although the Philippines was a bit late compared to the US and Australia with regards to the launching  of the game,  some Pinoy trainers had managed to cope up with this loss.

The current trainer max level of the game is 40. It took me almost two months to get to level 30(didn't bought any pokecoins via real money) and it seems level 40 is  just a dream for me and it would take me forever to achieve this.

In Cebu City, where there is a huge fanbase of the game, each trainer is striving to be the very best and help one another in every way possible.  One trainer stand unique among of us, Michael Uy whose trainer level recently turned 40. He is the first known legit Pokemon player in Cebu or maybe on the entire Philippines who reached the max level.

I met Michael(Mic) in a Lure Event in Marcelo Fernan Bridge(a Pokemon hot spot in Cebu). I was then level 25 and he was already 33. At first, we had suspected him of using any hacks and cheat since we are skeptical of him reaching that far whereas the game has just launched. So we started asking him questions about his technique and turns out he is legit and plainly an addict of the game.

Mic (Mic888x) actually turn  Lvl 40 at around Nov 26, 2016 5:45pm PH time( Nov 26, 2016 9:45am UTC).

Here are his few tricks:

Spam those Lucky Eggs

God knows how many lucky eggs was used by Mic in order to reach the max level. Every time he  normally catches a Pokemon or spins a poke stop, a lucky egg is always activated. It seems to me that he is laying eggs (kidding mic). He was telling us that he was getting more or less 100k XP per day.

Gotta Catch Em All

As the game slogan says 'Gotta Catch em all'. Mic literally catches every pokemon on its sightings and leave no one including his favorite ratatas and pidgeys. While other trainers are sitting ducks on lures, he is busy roaming around and catching those pokemons in his sightings. When his done catching those in his sightings and on those on the lure, he then evolves some pokemons on his list making every second of his lucky egg count.

Get more connections

Mic was a member of different chat groups from different teams and from different hot spot locations(we have chat group for every hotspot location). He can easily get information if some teams or locations are having lure parties or doing Jimmy's Loop. And in every event, he is always there and will always be( never missing any event). He had been to almost all of the hot spot locations in the metro making friends from each of this spots and becoming famous everywhere.

Play like there is no tomorrow

There are those times that there were no lure parties and events,  Mic didn't think of this as a downtime instead he simply roams around the metro with a car and spin and catches every poke stop and Pokemon along his way. The only downtime he has is when he rest and work. He plays beyond 8hrs everyday.

It seems these are the top things we get and observe from him. We also notice a few things that make him the very best, his gears which he carries or wears every time he is farming or hunting. Here are the list:

PowerBanks

Like other players, we notice that on his sling bag, he always brought with him a minimum of 2 powerbanks fully charged with chargers making him enjoy all day and all night farming and power leveling without any interuptions. More power more fun for him.

Umbrella

He always carries with him an umbrella in case it will rain and if there are rare Pokemon which needs to be chased. He is unstoppable by this time.

Running Shoes

We always saw him on running shoes everytime he is farming or leveling. This is to easily manuver incase a rare pokemon is within a walking distance or even on a running distance, he is always up for it and is ready to take a marathon. He can easily chase the pokemon with this. I remember when he was about to go home and already walked around 200m away from the lures when suddenly some rare pokemon pops out in the lure. Some trainers posted it quickly on the chat groups and luckily Mic was able to notice it and hurriedly  run back to the spot and was able to catch it.

Below was the actual video of him popping up Lvl 40 with the help of Goldeen. :)

We also ask him what's next after reaching the max level and he replied with "its Hunt time both for rare Pokemon and Gyms raids".

Congrats Mic, where are our beers?

[Pokemon] How to Own a Dragonite.

Dragonite is one of the strongest Pokemon in Pokemon Go. It has the highest CP across all Pokemon up to this date. However, every strong entity has its weakness. Dragonite has lots of weakness and one of them is Ice.

So while strolling across the road, I saw a gym nearby and check the Pokemon inside it. Upon checking a Dragonite is in it, I tried battling it. I used my low CP Dewgong in order to get a bigger reduction on the prestige and easily take down the gym.

By dodging and well manage usage of skill, I manage to defeat a higher CP Dragonite with my low CP Dewgong.

Here was the video of the battle:

[Pokemon] When Lapras appears in LURE.

So you are sitting and waiting for some rare Pokemon to appear  on a Lure party? How long will you be staying? Do you have the patience and courage to wait? What would your reaction be when some rare Pokemon suddenly appear on the Lure.

It was at Instinct Cebu Lure Party that some rare Pokemon appears in the lure. It started around late afternoon until  there was no more lure module to be drop. There were more or less a hundred trainers patiently waiting, most of them are coming from Team Instinct though there were still representative from other teams.

It was getting late(or should I say early in the Morning at almost 1am) and people were a bit tired and getting bored when something came up, guess what? Lapras pops out on the lure. It started when a Gay trainer shouted to the top of her lungs, screaming LAPPPPRAASSS, then goes another person then the other , it was a ripple effect of shouting around the area. At first I thought it was the same old prank and all but it wasn't . Then when I looked at my screen it was indeed Lapras so I joined in the screaming.

It was by this time all people were energized and alert. All were busy catching and telling stories to their friends in messengers and etc. It was a great night indeed. People got what they came for.
I successfully caught the Lapras but the CP was a bit of a bummer but hey it's still a Lapras.

Below was the actual footage: (best viewed with sounds aha ha)

[Pokemon] Catching Charizard

It was a fun-filled night when we were about to leave Cebu Yacht Club to go back to the bridge.
It was after catching Lapras ( link here : http://www.ekoysworld.com/2016/10/pokemon-catching-lapras.html) that we got a sight of Charizard in my friend's scanner.

My friend shouted in excitement  "Naay Charizard sa Mercado dapit" (there is a Charizard near the Public Market)  so  we rushed at him and checked where it exactly it is located. So after seeing the location and the  remaining time, some of the guys said that  we might not make it considering we will just use a jeepney going there. Out of the blue, I told them "taxi ta"( let's take a cab) and so they agreed. There were 5 of us and we decided to split the fare equally. Then goes the vacant taxi then we hop in.

Since we are not sure about the name of the area, we just informed the taxi that we are going to the public market while looking for a better landmark to accurately inform him. After looking closer we told the driver that we are going to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital luckily the driver knew the place. We told the driver to speed up as we were catching something, a friend is constantly reminding us of the remaining time. And the driver ask if we have a relative in the hospital we said promptly "Dli boss naa mi dakpon Pokemon" (No , boss we are going to a catch a Pokemon) then the driver understands and full speed away.

When we were near the area, we saw the same pickup  we encounter in Cebu Yacht Club and they suddenly cut us, then we knew that they were also after the Charizard. We then wait for the Charizard to spawn while listening to Win Radio (hahaha). Then it spawned and I started catching it, it cost me tons of ultra ball and I almost gave up on it but my friend was keeping the flame up and eventually catch it. It was also my first Charizard.

Below was the actual footage.

We met the people in the pickup and other familiar faces which are a regular trainer in the bridge. We exchange experiences on our catches and strategy in catching. Then suddenly, we ask the driver if where they are going next then they said were roaming around hunting then we said that if we could come with them so they agree and we jump in at the back of the pickup. Then there goes a night of hunting.
